Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park
Winter tent camping isn't as easy as it was just a few years ago. I was warm enough that night. That said, I wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked. I don't have a lot of natural "padding" and so I kept having to turn from sleeping on one side to the other . pete  I call that "hum...

Re: No porcupines
My guess is that all the porcupines crossed the border and made themselves at home in the Canadian Rockies. When backpacking in Banff this summer, we had major porcupine issues in the Skoki area. We were forewarned before arriving at camp not to leave anything in our tent vestibule, as the resident...

Re: Glacier Park in the 50s
oops, that is Cameron Falls. I knew something wasn't quite right and as I go thru old family photos, I realize that now. Sorry about the confusion.
Today I stumbled across another photo they took in 1953 near the Marias River bridge crossing and realized we had done the hike in 2017.

Re: Howe Ridge Fire
Meanwhile, mature trees that had managed to survive previous burns also survived Howe Ridge, particularly mature larch, whose thick bark makes them fire adapted and fire resistant. On the north side of the fire in particular, this has resulted in a meadowy forest, with about a 50 to 75 percent surv...

Thx Pete, last two sets of photos are so nice. Like the others here that won't get there this year; once again, we have to vicariously enjoy the Park through your eyes and lens.

Re: 2019 Sep Trip
I agree with Pete. Nice blog and wonderful photos. The one with the boat really stood out for me too.
Pictures were smaller so made it hard to really enjoy them... at least for me; many of your photos need to be pondered. Unless there is a way to make them bigger; I did increase font to 150%.

I agree with your assessment. I am very fussy about my water and this works for me. Color of course, if pretty fab too.Sue Z wrote:That's a stunning photo, Pete. The water is perfectly blurred, yet crisp enough to be very interesting.

Re: Sad News - David Parker has passed away
I am so sorry for your loss, Debby. My heart goes out to you. I have never met Dave, but by creating this board, he has greatly enriched my life, and I’m sure many feel the same way. Even though the board is not as active as it was in the past, I would greatly miss it if it no longer existed. I hav...

Re: Sperry and Granite Park set to reopen
I'm still amazed no one has canceled their reservations for either Chalet. Can't blame them, of course, but since so much else is being cancelled, I'm a little surprised.
