Re: Our Last Trip to GNP

mjdchenault - Frankly, it is not your job to "reach me" or to reprimand anyone on this forum. Assuming anything about me or my behavior or assuming anything about the others who have failed to rise to your level of perfection on this particular thread....well....you know what they say about assuming...

Re: Our Last Trip to GNP

I admit to being guilty of not thinking of tossing an almond to a ground squirrel on the same level as giving a peanut butter sandwich to a bear. For that, I apologize. However, the tone and self-righteousness of your message leaves much to be desired. I pack out my trash, I don't step off the trail...

Re: Our Last Trip to GNP

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. My husband accuses me of enjoying photographing and writing about our trips more than I even enjoy taking them! We head back to GNP later this month, so hopefully I'll be able to share another report with you in the near future. Preferably one with fewer blisters!

Our Last Trip to GNP

I always check this page when we have a trip coming up so that I can get a "fix" as I anticipate our coming vacation. I have always hesitated to put my own reports here because you guys really have your stuff together and I pretty much don't. We don't do a lot of hiking in our regular life and, as s...

Re: Shuttle from Swiftcurrent to Logan Pass

Just in case this helps anyone else who is planning to do the HockeyRef hike. I imagine it might get a lot of love this season: Xanterra requires a reservation for the shuttle from Many Glacier/Swiftcurrent and the shuttle only seats 5 people. I was just able to secure four of those seats for my gro...

Re: Shuttle from Swiftcurrent to Logan Pass

God bless you! I hadn't realized that Xanterra had also taken over the shuttle in addition to lodging reservations. Whew! I feel 1,000 times better. :D

Shuttle from Swiftcurrent to Logan Pass

Hello! Infrequent poster, but regular reader here. August will be our 5th hiking trip to GNP. Since we only make it up there every other year, the kind folks of this board are my biggest resource on keeping up with what has changed since our last visit. On our last visit (2012) we used the early a.m...

Re: Siyeh Loop Question

Thanks so much. Sounds like hitching is a better option than a long, uphill, boring hike!

Siyeh Loop Question

This may be an incredibly stupid question, but I can't figure it out so I am appealing to the experts. My husband and I will be making our 5th hiking trip to Glacier this September, so we are reasonably familiar with the park. We will be there just AFTER the shuttles stop running (if I am correct th...

I am from Knoxville, TN. I actually live in Rutledge now (a rural area about 40 miles east of Knoxville), but I still work in Knoxville, so I can still claim it! Lake City is "just up the road." It's about 25 miles up I-75. Very close. Thanks to everyone for the updates. I had fallen asleep at the w...

Kintla vs. Bowman

We are from rural east TN, so the road up to Kintla will likely just remind us of home  ! We definitely won't be put off by it. However, it does raise a question. Our motivation is to see the North Fork area. If you had to pick one: Bowman or Kintla, which is better for a day? I suppose our pr...

New Member - Hello

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a new member to the forum. My husband and I will be making our 3rd Annual Labor Day Trip (seems to have become a tradition!) to the park in a week. I have been enjoying this forum for several weeks to get my "fix" to hold me off until we get to leave. Our firs...
