Why not start with the Floral Traverse? That's the most likely spot for trouble. Why start so late? They're coming up to the steepest parts of the Floral route and it's nearly dark. It seemed un-necessarily dangerous. My guess is that they did the route backwards because they couldn’t get a parking...
Pete, I can’t even pick just one to comment on because they are all amazing. But if I had to pick one, it’s that leaf image. Maybe it stands out to me because it’s so different from your usual landscapes. I love the expansive mountain views, but the up close detailed shots are also quite impressive....
My guess is that all the porcupines crossed the border and made themselves at home in the Canadian Rockies. When backpacking in Banff this summer, we had major porcupine issues in the Skoki area. We were forewarned before arriving at camp not to leave anything in our tent vestibule, as the resident ...
To add to what Pete said, Waterton currently has 2 backcountry campgrounds closures because a black bear received a food reward from campers. Two other areas in Waterton also have warnings because of food conditioned bears approaching people.

Since this location closure overlaps with the dates for yo...
Can you post an update later on as to the total dollar amount donated so far so everyone can see how close it is to the $450 to keep the site going? If it is close, I would suspect people might chip in more to save Dave's work and provide ongoing GNP information for others to enjoy. This is a great...
I am so sorry for your loss, Debby. My heart goes out to you. I have never met Dave, but by creating this board, he has greatly enriched my life, and I’m sure many feel the same way. Even though the board is not as active as it was in the past, I would greatly miss it if it no longer existed. I have...
Thanks, Selkie. I am looking at it as a time to enjoy what’s in my own backyard. I also had to cancel Berg Lake, but in August. I have Lake O’Hara, but only one night. Hoping to pick up at least one more since word is that the buses won’t be running, so I’ll have to hike in. I’ve also picked up a fe...
And the waste that will be generated from the to go meals . . .
My decision has been made for me with the border closure— I won’t be able to make it to the Park this summer unless the border opens and in my opinion, it won’t open for tourism any time soon. Maybe September if I’m lucky.
