Re: September 2020

Great trip report!
Great Photos!
Too bad about the smoke, but it is what it is.
We take a crap shoot when we go to Glacier in late August or September.

But you had prime rib and thanks giving dinner at Sperry Chalet!!

Re: Sperry Chalet Photos, 2020

Thanks for the update! It looks awesome! They did an amazing job recreating the old look!
Except for the stairs, its almost hard to tell if the photos are of the new dorm or the old one!

Re: camping other than campgrounds

Actually, the Nyack/Coal Creek area is steup for "Undesignated Camping", but it looks like because of the COVID stuff, they aren't allowing any "undesignated camping" this year. I've never done it, but its my understanding that you still need a permit, and have to tell them roughly where you plan to...

Sperry Chalet status?

Has anyone been up to Sperry since they reopened? Or heard any reports from people who have stayed there this season?
Just curious how its going!
I'd love to see some pics of the new rooms!

Re: Latest 2020 Season Opening News

I'm pretty sure the NPS has got lots of people thinking about this problem and working on it, and they are trying to think through a LOT of different scenarios and Phases and situations, that in all likelihood are going to change a lot between now and then. I think they are trying to come up with so...

Re: Thinking Out Loud for 2020

I wonder how they are going to do the meals at Sperry? Its pretty tight quarters in the dining room, no way they could maintain social distancing during dinners. Breakfast might work ok. Maybe they will limit how many people can stay at the lodge at any time, so the dining room won't be too crowded...

Re: Sperry and Granite Park set to reopen

I'm still amazed no one has canceled their reservations for either Chalet. Can't blame them, of course, but since so much else is being cancelled, I'm a little surprised. I wonder if, in order to maintain social distancing requirements in the dining room, they won't be able to operate at full capac...

Re: Flathead County withdraws from Park Shuttle System

Is there any more news on the status of the free shuttle along Going to the Sun Road for 2020?
It would be good to know if there will or won't be a shuttle system when making plans...

Similarly with the Waterton passenger boat, and whether hikers will be able to dis-embarked at Goat Haunt?

Re: Bowman, Hole in the Wall, Upper Kintla - 8/24-27/2019

Thanks for a great trip report and pics, glad you were able to go from the depths of despair to the glories of Glacier! I was also on that 2018 backpack that Teapot mention, and it also makes me want to see those places again, now I just need to figure out how to do it but avoid the "I'm not dead ye...
