Re: Fatality on Dragon's Tail

My guess would be he didn’t know the route and tried to go beyond the false summit to the true summit. It’s hard to imagine being careless enough to fall off the false summit route, but I guess I should never underestimate people.

Re: Trail Runner Collides with Bear

Instead of being snarky, I guess I could actually state an opinion. If the trail is wide open, and you’re respectful of others, fine. Go ahead and run. I’ve done it. I headed up to Swiftcurrent Lookout late in the day and it was getting near sunset before I left. I ran big chunks of the downhill. I ...

Re: Trail Runner Collides with Bear

I've cut out running due to some back problems, but if I can start up again, I'm planning to get some tans short and top, wear headphones, and run as many of the trails at Glacier as I can. What a story to tell the grand-kids. Wrestled a grizzly and threw it off the trail. BTW, I've seen trail runne...

That first one is fantastic. You should work it up and print. I wish I had my big printer running. I'd print one for you.

Curing concrete today, so I better get back to it (93F here now).

Re: Bike ride to Logan Pass & climbing Reynolds at sunset

You can tell by the muscle definition and the tan lines that they’ve spent some time riding. But a lot of riders can’t run, and then to climb on top of that is a pretty impressive day. They didn’t need to be afraid of the bears, just the dark.

And I really like that last one. When nature gives you lemons, you make some LSD Koolaid...or something like that. What's the saying? :D

Re: Latest 2020 Season Opening News

I think making the GTTSR hike, bike or horseback might be a good idea for this year, and I'm a scientific type, so I could bike all the way to St. Mary and back. :D If they're going to have the GTTSR open to cars, they should have a lottery or some way to limit the cars. If it's first come, they'll ...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete, you're out there doin' it. Everyone else is pickin' their nose. Well, everyone else is saying, "Damn it's hot." I spent Friday in the shade, in a full body sweat. It took a lot of energy to get in the hammock. I have a feeling I was dehydrated. Pictures are great considering the hike. You can ...

Re: Latest 2020 Season Opening News

I can hear the conversation.

What should we close?
Let's close everything east of the divide.
How about Firebrand?
No one hikes that. Keep it simple...east of the divide.

I like his photography and I looked at the trailer, which looks great. I'll see if Netflix has it.

Thanks,

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Not sure I commented that the creek shot (from the previous group) was also the one I liked. I haven’t seen that creek. When I was playing with panoramas, I learned that shooting an extra shot to get more overlap is worth it. So.....maybe 35-40% overlap. And then for some reason, if I shoot with a w...

Re: 2019 Sep

Pete, kind words. I do feel the reports have lost their edge because I’m just getting older. I don’t smart mouth Harley riders or run into crazy talk as much as I used to, so the reports don’t have that laugh factor oF old. Also, I used to be able to bust ass starting as sunrise, but not this trip. ...
