Re: 2019 Sep Trip
Hi Jay Just finished reading your trip report from last year. Really enjoyed it. I love your B&W photography. Once again you remind me to slow down and look for the small patterns instead of always looking for the grand vistas. I can sympathize with your back problems. The day you got back from your...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park
Hey Pete I'll have to check out Helicon Focus.$55 dollars isn't bad per year. I own a version of lightroom which I like but it does not focus stack. Don't feel bad about being "computer stupid". I bought a higher end computer for photo editing cause my old dell was getting slow but I can't figure ou...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park
Pete, Just went through the posts from the last few weeks or so. Loved your picture of the sunrise light beam at Logan Pass. Your photo of the sunrise over Matahpi and the GTTS Mt is gorgeous! Definitely a wall hanger. You mentioned focus stacking an image. I was wondering what software you use for ...

Bike ride to Logan Pass & climbing Reynolds at sunset
I wasn't sure where to post this but my favorite Youtube adventure channel posted a video of riding the Going to the Sun road & climbing Reynolds Mt. Hope it's appropriate to post other peoples Youtube videos but the video is a lot of fun to watch and I think everyone here will enjoy it. I know I di...

Grand Canyon 2018
For years I wasn't excited about visiting the Grand Canyon. I thought the views would be so vast that everything would blend together and look the same after a while. That wasn't the case at all. Every view was unique and in the canyon every turn lead to another impressive cliff face. The views neve...

Crossing the narrow section of Angels Landing: The picture is almost too much for me to see. Looks very scary. Very beautiful, all of them! Thanks for the compliments brindledog. Yeah I wouldn't recommend Angels Landing to anyone with a fear of heights. I saw one poor girl up there on her hands and...

Re: Utah 2018 Fall Trip
Great pictures! Your Angels Landing picture is terrifying! I made it to the top, but doubt I'll ever do it again! I enjoyed the Observation Point hike much more. Capitol Reef is still on my list - I spent a week at Arches/Canyonlands, and a week at Zion/Bryce, but no time for CR yet. Looking forwar...

Re: Utah 2018 Fall Trip
really FABulous Fotos! It is a beautiful area to hike. I've not done the Narrows but have done the Landing and some of the smaller hikes in that area. Your picture at the Narrows is really great; especially cuz of the water. Looking forward to hopefully seeing some of the other areas you photograph...

Utah 2018 Fall Trip
This is a continuation of my post about the Sand Dunes. After I left the Sand Dunes I went to Page AZ, Grand Canyon, Zion, Capitol Reef, and Arches National Parks. It was an amazing trip. I knocked off 4 bucket list hikes on this trip by doing Antelope Canyon, hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyo...

Re: Great Sand Dunes NP 2018
Thanks Jay! Glad you like the photos. I think you would have a lot of fun photographing the dunes. You can really get creative with the abstract shapes of the ripples and shadows. Here's a few more that I like. A selfie of my shadow or something like that. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/4921576...

Re: Great Sand Dunes NP 2018
Wow, really nice photographs. I'll need to add this to my places to visit in the coming years. Thanks for posting! Thanks Paul. If I get back there I'd like to camp out in the dunes. The park service issues 10 permits a day to do that. I talked to a couple of backpackers walking back from the dunes...

Re: Great Sand Dunes NP 2018
Nice photos! Did you have a favorite trail or viewpoint? Thanks! There is no trails in the dunes. You can wander around where ever you like looking for views or patterns in the sand. The further into the dunes that you walk, the less footprints you see. This makes for better photos. One other tip I...
