Re: Sad News - David Parker has passed away

So sorry to hear this news. My sincere condolences to you Debbie. Dave did so much to create a wonderful GNP community.
I received your call today but can’t reply as I traveling away from home and cell service is difficult. My thoughts and prayers to you.

Re: SW Utah

Nancy and I spend 2-3 weeks usually more in SE Utah and nearby Four Corner states every spring and sometimes in the fall. We tend to focus on exploring Ancestral Puebloan Ruin sites. No spring trip this year though. Not sure what later this year will bring but typically these are very busy places. E...

Re: Quarantine?

Phase one of reopening still requires all persons coming into Montana from other states or countries to self quarantine for 14 days. Montana's reported numbers are relatively low so far.
I notice that the Order is effective through April 10. I would expect it to be renewed, or continue in force, longer.
Yes, Governor Bullock extended all Covid-19 policies until at least April 24, 2020.

Persons arriving in Montana from another State or Country

The following is the first paragraph of Montana's Governor Bullock's directive of March 30, 2020. Any person coming to Montana from another state or country for a non-work-related purpose must immediately self-quarantine for 14 days. If a person will be present in Montana for fewer than 14 days, tha...

Re: NPS closures and alerts

The Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest has closed all Forest Campgrounds, Rental Cabins, and Day Use Sites. The closures will not impact other Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest trails, trailheads or dispersed camping sites which remain open as of now. Here's the details: https://www.fs.usda...

Re: NPS closures and alerts

Thanks Teapot57,
Given closures of so many other NPS units I think Glacier would only be a matter of when and not if.

Re: NPS closures and alerts

I suspected Glacier National Park remained open while so many other park units have already closed is because visitation in winter is usually low and most of the park is relatively inaccessible to tourists. But as spring advances more and more people will be visiting, often coming from great distanc...

Re: Current weather?

Crazy windy day last Saturday. 106 mph near East Glacier, 74 in Choteau but only 67 at our house. Lots of damage in town: trees down, home damaged etc. Also there were a couple of severe dust storms causing road closures and no visibility. There were some fairly large grass fires well east of Great ...

Re: Firebrand Restaurant, East Glacier, closes

I had several very nice dinners there over the years. I especially liked their Steak sandwich with a Pigs Ass porter to drink.
