Re: Ultralight

I am sorry that I personally offended you. I understand that you are passionate amateur photographer. I have no doubt that you take great pictures. But, you know nothing about me. Two years ago I spent a close to a year learning about photo image formats (jpegs, tiff, gifs, raw, and other proprietar...

Re: Ultralight

I am going to have to disagree with your assessment of Sony cameras (at least with respect to ILC ones). CA is more a function of the lens than the body and, if present, then easily taken care of in LR or PS. I am unsure what constitutes being off in color processing software. Haven't noticed that ...

Re: Ultralight

The Panasonic Lumix (small dSLR) takes fabulous pictures. Very impressed with this camera. Sony, not so much. Sony has had a serious problem with CA for almost a decade. Their P&S's have a problem with pocket lint. The pocket lint jams up the lens focus motor. Unfixable once it happens. They only la...

Xtra Clothes 20 Water Filter 4 Pillow 5 I used to buy blow-up pillows and other special hiking pillows. Now I just bring a pillow case from home and stuff it with my extra clothing. Works better and it is lighter. A win-win. Try to have something that feels like your pillow at home. You'll sleep be...

You're near the end. Electrical is easy. Insulation sucks during the summer if you are doing fiberglass.

If you are using Firefox there is another way to get the actual image location. If you right click on the image. Then click on "View Image Info". Then click on Media Box. It will list the location of all the images on the screen. Only look a the Type=Image. You will see the image on the bottom of th...

Re: Dawson-Pit vs Gunsight Pass Backpack

You might consider going to Mokowanis Lake. There are a number of beautiful waterfalls further up the valley from the campground to Margaret Lake and Ipasha Lake. It is a favorite. You can spend an entire day just hiking up the valley to see the waterfalls. Begin early in the season, the waterfalls ...

Re: Dawson-Pit vs Gunsight Pass Backpack

You mentioned that you are from Colorado. Are you a 14'er? If so, you will find hiking on official trails in Glacier quite easy. Most of the trails are on a very easy grade with very few stepping obstacles. There is nothing like the Boulder section to Long's Peak. Nothing remotely close to that. Bre...

Re: New air service to Missoula ...

I booked my flight and car rental about a month ago for a September trip. Looked at Missoula, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Spokane. This year, Kalispell was the cheapest for both the flight + car. $450 from Albany, NY to FCA and $300/wk for the car. Last year Great Falls was the cheapest for Flight (...

Sad to hear the news that we all knew was coming. Please accept our condolences and best wishes. Andy will be sorely missed by so many. Thank you for letting us know the news on this difficult day. It means a lot to our small group of Glacier fanatics. I am going to be doing the "Hockey Ref" hike th...

Re: What tent do you have.

My quest for a 20 ish pound pack has officially begun. of course that's with out water and food. It isn't that hard to get a pack weight of 20-30 lbs. But, it does take some careful consideration. If you want some tips, I can post some ideas for you. I usually make a backpack list for each trip wit...
