Thanks for that compliment! That little Sony does take good pictures doesn't it?
I always take it along on hikes.

Here are a few snaps and a video clip I took walking back that show why it's always good to check your "back trail".
I saw a number of people stopped at this vantage point looking towards Red Rock Falls and "pointing".

The "cloud formation" pouring over the continental divide in the distance was amazing.

The short video clip illustrates how strong the wind was pushing these clouds over the divide.

Not a sign of it 30 minutes earlier when I was at the falls and made this shot. Just a few cloud tops along the crest of the divide.

And then this sight!

Pete, I saw something just like your weather rolling in and the clouds one year on the Sun Rd near Bird Woman Falls overlook. It was just rolling in over Logan Pass and was amazing. It almost looked like a waterfall, it was moving so fast. Unfortunately my picture isn't as good as yours!

Pete,

Thanks for the pictures. The cloud formation is fascinating - it is amazing how fast those clouds can move.

Also, great picture of the dipper.

I have been to Florence Falls only once and with a lot less water. These picture are impressive.

I looked at those purple flowers and thought those look like larkspur. Tibber said they were delphinium. when I did a little more checking it turns out the flowers I have been calling larkspur for years (actually identified as "upland larkspur" in a guide on Glacier plants) have the scientific name "Delphinium nuttallianum". So either name is correct.

Pete,

Great photos and video. We were approaching Ptarmigan tunnel once when a cloud similar to that dropped down over the rim. By the time we reached the tunnel, visibility had dropped to about 30 feet. Quite a sight to capture on video and glad you were able to do so.
