As we often say everyone has to hike their own hike and In this instance I will pleasantly agree to disagree.

When I do a day hike in Glacier (5-10 miles or so) I will be packing bear spray and bug spray and something to eat and something to drink but unless there is bad weather or a threat of bad weather I am not likely to pack any rain gear. On a multi-day hike that is a different story and I will be packing rain gear then.
