Any update on how the BC Fires are impacting air quality and visibility in the North Fork area?

Hi:

Ask dpratt or Dave Parker about fire info in BC.
I think they keep up with fire info because of where they live. I live in town.

As for the North Fork. I haven't been out there lately. Somebody will have though. Maybe they'll see your post.
Still smokey today but not bad. I suspect it's about the same in the NF.

I haven't been up the North Fork recently. The Stillwater River valley, which is what 93N follows west of Whitefish, has been a little smokey today, but not as bad as the last couple of days. I would guess the North Fork is about the same.

Saturday July 22 was a really nice day on the West Side of the park.
Sky was clear and smoke free up at Logan Pass. Apparently the wind shift cleared all the smoke out of the area.

Unfortunately I don't think you have anything to worry about in regard to blue skies. Although they may be smoke filled if we don't see a change in this hot/dry weather pattern we've been having for the last month plus. The governor just declared a fire emergency for the entire state (more info in the linked story). So far the really big fires are in the eastern part of the state.

The current 15-day forecast calls for temps around 90 with plenty of sun and 0% chance of precipitation.

Yes, looks like it has been raining for a few hours at Apgar and Logan Pass on the webcams.

Hopefully it will be enough to at least slow down the Sprague fire.

Hi Sue:

According to the SNOTEL at Flattop, snow thus far is about 99% of 30 year average.

Latest forecast has backed off snow amounts. Still be windy though.

48 degrees yesterday (2/2/2018) on the Rocky Mountain Front north of Choteau. Cold Front passing during the night brought 50 mph winds (measured on my anemometer) while temp dropped to +6 this morning. Snowing now with a stiff north breeze. A few inches forecast for Choteau today and an additional 4-6 forecast Sunday through Monday. Should be good skiing in the mountains as long as the wind calms a little.

Looks gloomy and cold on the Glacier webcams today. Lots of snow but I guess it's not new snow from what you are saying.
The mountains are calling and I must go.
