Hywy 2 closed near Essex. (8/20/2015)

Transportation can be a challenge in Glacier. If you have ideas, offer ride shares, or used a commercial service that you were happy with, let everyone know. Also, ask questions about road information, or share road information you may have.

...and if your vehicle is longer than 21 feet, there is a Detour (If say, you wanted to get from East side to West side of the Park).

"only access between east and west side of park via Hwy 200 near Lincoln."

Out of curiosity, I checked the difference (between East and West Glacier).

-Hwy 2, 58 miles
-Hwy 200, 339 miles

but, you get to see Seeley Lake.

The closure for US Hwy 2 is now from East Glacier to West Glacier. Only residents are allowed between these locations according to the August 21 8:00 AM update for the Thompson Complex. Evacuation orders for Essex have not yet been given.

None of this is helping my argument with my hubs about retiring in Montana. :?

Stay safe, my local friends! I hope you get some fresh air soon!

Amtrak was 7 minutes late into East Glacier today. This is considered on time/early in my experience. I am breathing a sigh of relief that I may not get dropped off in Shelby, MT after all!!!
