Snow closes Sun Road

Transportation can be a challenge in Glacier. If you have ideas, offer ride shares, or used a commercial service that you were happy with, let everyone know. Also, ask questions about road information, or share road information you may have.

I see that snow has (temporarily) closed the Sun Road:

As of Tuesday morning (9/13/2016) the GNP Road Status page indicates Going to the Sun Road is open on the east side to Logan Pass but closed on the West side from Logan Pass to Big Bend.

Wish I could be out there freezing my ass off. I'll have to look into a go fund me page.

It's closed again--at the Big Bend--maybe for the season if they get a foot at Logan.
Nasty day. I didn't get quite to the Big Bend when I found a place to turn around.
Visibility was really bad, wind, hard rain,....
And Squeeze's passenger side headlight is out--another story :(

When I was making a clip at the Loop on the way up...
Two couples riding in a car with "local plates", not a rental, were in the process of beginning the Loop hike
Told me so themselves. I didn't say anything other than "have a nice hike". 8)
Any guess as to why they would do that?
Pouring rain, lousy visibility...It could snow any time later in the day.
I'm a libertarian. Each to his own. 8)

Some pics later

What could possibly go wrong?

Well nothing silly man.
"It's just a walk in the park".
Right? 8)

True, it wasn't raining at the moment I was at the Loop. That changed rather quickly.
You'll see what they were walking into.
Here is one couple. The other is behind the car. They were well prepared from what I saw.
I'm just curious why they were hiking up the Loop.

Visibility was down to just a couple hundred feet when I turned around

It is amazing how much higher the water is running compared to just two weeks ago.

I'm surprised to see how "crowded" it was yesterday given the conditions. Although, when you make plans and it is your only time to go for a hike, I guess you have to take advantage of it.

Great pictures - it looks like late fall. And, yes, that is high water.
