retrieving vehicle

Transportation can be a challenge in Glacier. If you have ideas, offer ride shares, or used a commercial service that you were happy with, let everyone know. Also, ask questions about road information, or share road information you may have.

Getting back to the car after the hike is always a problem. I mentioned before to check with the bellmen at the hotels. They generally have a car, are able to borrow their buddies car or know someone who has a car. I have made arrangements with them before and it worked out fine. Generally they are a pretty responsible group. ( One key is to over tip a lot )

Getting back to my car is rarely a problem because I make it a habit to have my vehicle where my hike will end. Sometimes getting to the start area of a point to point adventure can be a challenge.

That is true. One time staying at Rising Sun and going to Granite Park for two nights then back to Swiftcurrent. Made arrangements to park the car at Swiftcurrent and have an off duty bellman take us to Logan Pass. Nice young man, had possibly been partying the night before but got us safely to the Pass.

res :)

Did I by chance meet you in the Swiftcurrent Store late on the afternoon of August 26th last year?
If so, I didn't mean to be rude. I was kind of dehydrated and hungry. Blood sugar was probably low. :(
Later on I thought you probably thought I was an ******** 8)
I apologize since I always enjoy meeting new people like that.
I was just wasted that afternoon :(

Regarding day hiking and where to spot your vehicle....
I prefer to get on the trail as early as possible when hiking alone---6-7AM if possible--- depending on whether I'm coming from home or camping in/near the park.
I may start some days this year before sunrise to get the "snaps" I want.

So I park where I start and worry about how to get back when I finish the hike.
Virtually all the day hiking I do ends at a location that, 1) either has a shuttle stop, or 2) is "busy" enough that I can hitch back to my rig.
And yep, I know hitching isn't for everyone. 8)

I did meet you in the store last summer. You were wore out. I didn't take offense as I know that feeling. Thanks for posting all the pictures and videos. Hope to cross paths with you again.
