More changes at West Glacier. Will we recognize the place?

3 million visitors now enter the park every summer, most thru West Glacier,
so the former sleepy gateway entrance town is already no longer the same as it once was.
The modifications Pursuit proposes at the Sun Road/River Bend interesction are mere
bandaids that do not address the larger traffic capacity issue. Either

additional lanes and parking are added inside the park to handle more vehicles
additional parking and shuttles are added outside the park to reduce vehicles inside the park
no action is taken, we get up with Pete at 4am to beat lines

My prediction is that the third (default) option will prevail because those in charge will not find a solution that makes everyone happy so they just won't make a decision.

I think I prefer option 3 regardless. The park has a certain capacity that can't be exceeded without damage. I don't want additional lanes and parking in the park. Adding more doesn't really solving the problem anyway. It just encourages more people to come. There is some room for more parking and shuttles outside the park but at some point the area near the entrance starts to look like Pigeon Forge which isn't a lot better. My opinion is that, as for the backcountry, we need to limit front country visitation. Not everyone that wants to visit can fit in during the peak times. Of course I realize this option has about a zero chance of being implemented.

I agree 100%
The best way to implement restricting the number of people is raising the price---a subject for discussion on another forum please.
