St Mary Entrance

I notice in the webcam that there is some digging along the side of the road at the St Mary entrance. It may have been mentioned already but if so, I missed it. What work is being done here?

Re: Spring, Summer, and Now Fall 2015 Around GNP

Great pics. Love the different look with the dusting of snow. I'd love to get out there this time of year just to see it in a different perspective than our usual July trips.

Great video! I'm not sure I would have been that calm had I seen them when I was on that trail a few weeks ago. Always love your reports from the park and all the videos and photos. Please keep them coming.

Re: Current weather?

East side was cold and rainy yesterday. We stopped in at Many Glacier Hotel and the place was PACKED. I guess everyone was just waiting out the weather. Had a drizzly rain until about sundown and I don't think it rained after that. Still nice and cool this morning. Warmed up this afternoon but feels...

Really nice looking area. I always like your pics and videos of the park. Helps those of us so far away to get a glimpse of areas we may never get to. Keep the videos coming. :)

DavidWayne, I got our reservations for the same two places for the same time period. Maybe we will see you there. Just wave at everyone to be sure you don't miss us. :D

Re: Web cams

I too check the web cams several times a day. It isn't a substitute for being there but it is the best I can do until the day I am lucky enough to get back to the park.

Goat Haunt Webcam

The webcam is up and running. I think it just came online today? Pretty sure it wasn't up yesterday when I looked.

Yep, the Mast General Store is still there and going strong. They have six locations scattered throughout NC, SC and TN.

Re: Ranger-led hikes

1. You should be safe in a group and the bear spray would not be as necessary. Last year I started out on a Ranger led hike and found it to be a little slow for me so I ventured onward by myself. I had bear spray so I felt safe enough. If you think you might not stay with the group(too fast or too s...

Re: Glacier Plowing

The article mentions 60 to 90 foot snow drifts. Is this the length along the road or is that the depth of the drift on the road? I have little understanding of such terminology. One inch of snow here in the south shuts down everything for a day or two. :D

Biggest surprise

Okay folks, it is really quiet in here. Maybe this will stimulate some conversation(and my apologies if it has come up before and I missed it). What was your biggest surprise the first time(or first in a while) you visited glacier? Was it the condition of the roads, the lack of privacy in a lodge, t...

Winter Caretaker?

Is there any word on if/who the winter caretaker of Many Glacier is? Will there be a blog like the last couple of years?
