Re: If you can't log in and getting 404 error, try this

I'm not sure what I was thinking about when I made that original post. 8) If you can't log in, how would you see it? And if you could log in, then you didn't need to see it. No not really. I just got caught in it, searched for Glacier Chat, which produced a working address, but I'm pretty tech savv...

Re: Belton Chalet bought

Looks to me like "Pursuit" is just the new name for Glacier Park Inc (GPI)... https://glaciermt.com/listing/glacier-park-inc https://www.glacierparkcollection.com/ Except more pretentious. I stayed at two different locations on my visit to Glacier, ate half a dozen meals at at least 3 dif...

Re: Sperry Chalet Photos, 2020

I'm not as big a Glacier fan as most here, but the Chalets, at least one of them, either of them, are on my bucket list. I don't care about staying in one as much as just visiting. I'm a big National Parks fan, but some of the lodges are almost destination worthy on their own.

Re: Is lodging/food any better under Xanterra?

Along with being a Parks fan I'm a would be foodie too, I'll look and download menus and I've got to say the menu at Nells/Swiftcurrent did look pretty terrible. The other places did look ok, but just because a menu looks good, doesn't mean it is.

Thanks for the feedback!

Re: Bear Safety, Behavior, and Bear Spray

Wow, great video. Just how close were you? I've spent more time in Yellowstone with many warnings about the tame appearing, but not always tame Bison. Twice I've turned around to find one had just crested a rise less than 10 feet away. Both times they saw me before I saw them but they just ignored m...

Re: Sad News - David Parker has passed away

My condolences Debby, I can't imagine your loss. I'm not a regular here although it's been almost 10 years since I joined. But this was always a nice place and Dave was always here and a nice guy. Seems like we even traded a couple of PMs over the years.

Regardless, I'm sorry for your loss.

Is lodging/food any better under Xanterra?

My last trip to Glacier was nearly a decade ago, although one is in the planning stages for next year. On my previous trip I was underwhelmed by GPI in both accommodations and dining. I'm a parks veteran, we weren't expecting a 5 star hotel, more on the lines of the cabins at Yellowstone, not the ho...

Re: Nell’s

Late to the party, but it was pretty bad some years back when GPI was still running it. Xanterra's not perfect, they definitely have some hickups from year to year, but overall I think they've done the best of the vendors in the parks. Yellowstone and Grand Canyon in particular.

Nice article. Even better to see he's still around, if a bit less active, and it wasn't just a memorial article.

In this case, that would be huckleberries.

You know, I thought of that as soon as I had posted.

Re: Trip Report, July 9-11

It sounds to me that you were disappointed, but more troublesome is the fact that if you can't hike more than 5 miles in one day, that you sort of condemn a place. Good things come to people that work hard and are patience. Maybe you and your wife need a easier vacation like most of the rest of the...

Re: Trip Report, July 9-11

Wow, a bunch of replies all of the sudden. Hiking. I'm a hiker, but not a backpacker. I'm in pretty good shape, but not great shape. I felt like I'd done a good workout after a ~6.5 mile hike in 95F temps in 3 hours in Arches a few days after Glacier. I really wanted to see Iceberg Lake, but what, 8...

Well, we made our Glacier trip and both my wife and I were less than impressed. Oh, it was nice, but not the wow that frequently accompanies a National Park. It was worth a try. On the other hand, this forum is great! Lots of friendly, helpful people, I wish I liked the park as well as the forum! :D...
