He could be referring to Mokawannis junction. But yes, an 8 person group should not have been able to reserve both sites at Mokawannis lake.

It might be possible to cycle it but I'm sure I would recommend doing that since you'd be traveling pretty swiftly through the forest and possibly startle a bear which would not be a good thing.

The two medicine permit office isn't going to issue permits this year so you will need to go to Apgar, St Mary. or Swiftcurrent. Probably St. Mary would be easiest. Yeah, It's probably best to rent a vehicle at the airport. Rentals are expensive but if you divide up the cost between everyone, it really wouldn't be too bad. Kalispel is the closest airport but somewhat more expensive than Great Falls as far as rentals are concerned.

When I said Chief Mountain Customs, I really meant the trailhead there. Yeah, I wasn't sure how reliable those shuttle vendors are. I once gave a couple a ride from Chief Mountain to St. Mary since they were stranded by one of those unreliable shuttle vendors that never showed up.

I think the reasoning behind that is they might not want extra traffic on the page while people are selecting their permits.
