Re: Backcountry Web Pages Down Since Aug 14th

I don't know how long they've been back in business but the Trail Status pages, Trail & Area Closings & Postings page and Advance Availability pages seem to be functioning again.

What's available tonight is not working.

Re: Ole Creek - new trail

An interesting item from September 1971 in the Yesterdays Column in the Hungry Horse News. I was in the Park at the time helping to close down Lake McDonald Lodge but as it was late in the season, my invitation to go on this hike must have gotten misplaced. 50 years ago Sept. 17, 1971 Editor Mel Ru...

Jungle Rules in the Backcountry?

I just returned from a 4-night backpack in the North Fork area (Bowman Lake - Brown Pass - Brown Pass - Bowman Lake). Day 3 consisted of day hikes to Hole in the Wall & Lake Francis from Brown Pass campsite. It was a great trip with weather cooperating until the morning we hiked out. We got a bit of...

Re: Backcountry Web Pages Down Since Aug 14th

I asked today and they said it was a server / licensing issue. I didn’t pry further. While I was picking up my permit, a “hard side only” many glacier came across the radio due to bears getting into human food. zozepelin, You're probably either in the backcountry or soon will be but... Thanks for t...

At least the Hay Creek fire didn't blow up and burn your destination to the ground!
orin,

Hay Creek Fire... I knew there was something else that had caused scheduling issues. HA!

Who invited this Ida character?

So yesterday I'm sort of going through my mental checklist in preparation for my Wednesday flight to Kalispell from Atlanta. ...and then, on TV, I see the forecast track of Hurricane Ida. Well shoot... it's supposed to be sitting at its closest point to Atlanta on Wednesday morning and it should be ...

Re: Backcountry Web Pages Down Since Aug 14th

...August 25th (yesterday) the trail status page updated to acknowledge the issue: "Currently these links are not working. We hope to return them soon." In this day and age, I'm not sure how it's possible to have a website go down for almost 2 weeks, in peak season. Hackers? Server died with no bac...

Re: St. Mary Village room cancelations 8/29/21 - 9/8/21

I checked mountainforecast.com this morning and temperatures are now looking like highs in the 50s. Phew! Dodged a bullet there. Sue Z, Brace for minor thread creep... I was unfamiliar with mountainforecast.com and tried that link. It seemed to have issues... Could the correct URL be mountain-forec...

Re: Status of Northwest Campsites

Two people on the facebook page responded that those campsites are open again. One of them was at a North Fork meeting on the 19th at which they said they were opening it. [edit: The other responder says she called the NPS, which said yes.] Sue Z, Thanks! I thought they were probably open but it is...

Golly,

I'll have to look at the forecast... I'm planning on being out there the first 7 days of September. I may have to pack my woolies.

Anyway, does anyone know the current status of those campsi...

Re: Some Northwest Backcountry Sites Open Again

Since the Backcountry Web Pages are still down as of this morning, I don't know for sure if anything changed regarding the backcountry campsites in the northwest part of the park. However, according to Hay Creek Fire page of the InciWeb - Incident Information System, the Evacuation Warning for the r...

I just canceled a reservation for a tiny house at St. Mary Village, 8/29/21 - 9/8/21. Part of our group had to bail. Waaah.
Sorry that you had to do that.

Thanks for letting us know.

Re: Backcountry Web Pages Down Since Aug 14th

This morning (Aug 19th) I sent a gentle followup query regarding the malfunctioning web pages. This afternoon I got a response. Teams are working on it, but I would contact the backcountry office at 406-888-7859. They may have information on the campsites and trails before you get here. Emlon Stanto...

Glacier's Backcountry Advance Reservation Availability Webpage, What's Avaialble Tonight Webpage & Trail/Campsite/Area Postings-Closed Webpage have been down since at least Saturday (Aug 14th) morning. I sent an email this morning asking about the status of same. (There's always the chance that folk...
