Re: Carrying a large lens

I've carried a large Tamron 200-400 lens for my canon 10d in a lowepro lens bag on my waist strap. I am obviously selective about which trip I bring it on as it weighs 3 lbs. I found that keeping it on my waist worked well as it was always accessible for a surprise wildlife shot. For me personally, ...

Re: Best Hikes in Glacier National Park, IMO

Awesome list! I like the easy descriptions. The only one I would suggest to add would be in the 15+ group: Jackson Glacier lookout over Gunsight Pass to Lake Mc Donald- offers great side trip up Comeau Pass to Sperry Glacier and the ability for awsome lakeside campsites (Gunsight Lake, Lake Ellen Wi...

Re: Famous food in Montana

Based on the fabulous advice obtained in this forum, I can wholeheartedly recommend razzleberry pie from Park Cafe near the St. Mary's entrance to Glacier. It is made from blueberries, blackberries, and rasberries. You won't be disappointed. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2416/1714014775_c1166f7cfd....

Re: Great new site

Dave- I love the new chat logo with the mountain goat- but it got me to thinking: Where would a mountain goat obtain such a nice backpack? Then it dawned on me....

Question:
the study involves tracking collars that "monitor bears for births and morality". I was unware of the immoral bear problem! The Yogis are stealing the picnic baskets again. ha ha

Unusual Perspectives

Sam posted a cool picture of Mt Gould with a different perspective. I love that kind of photo: a photo of a popular area taken in an unusual way. I thought that would be a cool topic. Post your unusual perspective here. Here are some I took of Upper Grinnell Lake and melting Grinnell Glacier and ano...

great photos! I stood in the Ptarmigan tunnel the week before you on the day of the first dusting of the season. It was much whiter in your photos. That was really cool to see.
