Re: What's September like?

Here are some pictures from mid-Sept 2018. North Fork, Belly River areas. We had smoke, haze, crisp and clear, hot, cold, hail, snow, and rain over 9 days. https://live.staticflickr.com/4875/30924046987_04f7339874_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/1905/43888010800_3df422215b_k.jpg https://live.sta...

Re: 2021 summer trip questions

Sorry, just saw this. I got them by checking the calendar. It was a couple weeks after the initial timeframe. I think it was around when they started working in the morning one day.

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Thanks Pete! I'm excited. I have a reputation in my house for jam packing vacations, so this time I'm trying to just experience a couple places deeply, rather than a bunch of places for brief periods. Your plan sounds good, pretty much what I had in mind. Depending on how we feel, might try to stop ...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

For those keeping track, I got my permit this morning ATL-MOR in late July. Not my first choice, but good a good first time backpacker trip nonetheless. That was the final piece for the week: Coming from the west Sun - Rising Sun Motor Lodge Mon - ATL Tues - MOR Wed - Lake McDonald Lodge Thurs - Spe...

Re: 2021 Backcountry Permit Applications: Date for submittal now March 17

Anyone else put in a reservation request and want to talk about it? "Crickets" are boring. 8) pete  We got Sperry reservations for two nights, so I put in for a couple two night trips (reversible and substitutable). Because of the reservations, my day range isn’t a range, so I may b...

Re: BC Campgrounds - The Best of the Rest?

I've only stayed at a handful of sites, but I really liked Mokowanis Lake. It's beautiful, small (only two spots), and sometimes there are moose around. The view of pyramid peak from the food prep area is sweet. We spent two nights there and took side trips to Lake Margaret (which is insanely pretty...

Re: 2021 summer trip questions

Well, good news (for me, at least). I was able to pick up cancellations for Sperry for July 22 and 23. That will be a big hike, so we'll start early and go slow (or ride on a horse if necessary). Get as far up towards Comeau Pass as we feel like on the off day. I've only been to Glacier in September...

Re: September 2020

Thanks for the report! We’re going to be taking it very slow and easy up the Sperry Trail to the chalet this summer.
