anyone going September 2022

We are heading to Glacier September 4-19 for quite possibly our last visit to GNP. We are always looking for options for ridesharing for some hikes that need 2 cars like Siyeh Bend over Piegan Pass to MGH. Looks like the shuttle maybe running to make Siyeh to SunRift easy. Last year I think the shut...

Re: 2020 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Pete,

Stunning videos. We've tried it but never that far. Those skinny little places may have deterred. Gotta know your limits! Truly enjoyed the videos and maybe we'll see you in September.

Re: All About Babb

Just returned from 3 weeks is Glacier. We did check out the Hun's Den (not a motorcycle bar) Hun's is short for Hungarian, as the owner is of Hungarian descent. Run by a man, wife and young boy (very cute). Variety of burgers, sandwiches and we had a chicken salad. Very good. Just starting up but cl...

Re: Medicine Grizzly Lake questions

And the flowers in the meadows were INCREDIBLE. And from what I hear this year's flowers are already fantastic putting this hike on our to-do list while in the park July 20-Aug 3. The fishing was excellent, my son accompanied us on this trip and everytime he threw in the line he came out with a fish...

Re: Need One More Possible Hike !!

Hiked Medicine Grizzly last year. We were staying in East Glacier. The wildflowers were absolutely awesome. It felt like something out of Alice In Wonderland!!! Also saw a large moose and very few people. Hiker Doc and I will be in the park July 11-25 and hope to do this hike again and possibly Trip...

Re: Northern Highline Status

SJ, We just got back from our trip and we hiked the first part of the Highline until about Haystack Butte. It had just opened. We stopped at the pretty significant snowfields but some were going over. Our biggest battle were the goats on the rimrock part of the trail! We had a great trip, did lots o...

Re: Lake McDonald

Todd and Paul,

You will have some help representing New England (although I am a transport from the midwest) We are leaving from CT July 9-19. Can't wait to ready everyone's trip reports.

Re: I feel like Rip Van Winkle!

That's for sure.....it looks like February down here. Except all the young deciduous trees and shrubs are bent to the ground and may well snap before long. And it's still snowing as bad as earlier.....maybe 3 inches now, and I'm 1000 feet lower than Dave. I've gone out 3 times to shake snow off som...

Re: A dumb weather question

What about mosquitoes and biting flies. I've been to Glacier twice in mid June and many of the higher elevations were still snowed in and I've never been able to do the infamous Hockey Ref hike or go through Ptarmigan tunnell but never had any problems with flies or mosquitoes. Does this later thaw ...

Re: East Glacier Lodging Reviews

I can add that Jacobosen's was very, very clean and reasonably priced. I do not recall "noise." Our reservation was off a bit and we were offered a home on the property for two nights that was exceptionally comfortable. We then moved over to a small cottage and still felt quite comfortable...

Thanks Hockey Ref

With all the warm weather, I was hoping for good news on the trails. BTW, I really enjoyed your pix. We really wanted to do the "Hockey Ref" hike, so I've been hoping the warm weather holds on and keeps melting snow. 9 more days...

Only 10 more days!

Will be in MG on June 14. Anyone reports on trail conditions. How much snow? Looking to do at least parts of Piegan, Iceberg, Ptarmigan, Grinnell, Swift Current. Had some success last year June 3-12 but was stopped short on a few. When does the Ptarmigan Tunnel generally open? Praying for good weath...

Hockey Ref, sounds like a good plan

Sounds a lot like what we are doing, we're in just about the same age category (one older and one younger  ) and I'm told in order to get in hiking shape, you have to hike!! So luckily we are in CT and it is pretty hilly so we will be hitting the Appalacian Trail every weekend from now until J...

52 more days for us & and I hope some of the snow melts!

Our trip is finally shaping up! Finally got airfare out of CT to GTF, more than last year, more than we wanted to pay but "just HAVE TO go back to Glacier!!" Thought it might make sense to go into GTF since our first 4 nights are at Glacier TrailHead Cabins so we don't have to plan on the ...
