Re: Ole Creek - new trail

Some random findings: 1) Trail status page is back up (thanks Scott), and here is the description: Miche Wabun Trail Former 3-mile Campground to North Fork Belly River/ 4.8 mi. Re: Ole Creek - new trail

Thanks Orin! Really cool, things I noticed: 1) Bowman to Kintla connector as has been mentioned 2) Wabun Lake (north Belly River) - this is what I recalled from trail status pages but isn't on the maps 3) Nyack Loop over Red Eagle Pass to Red Eagle Lake -this is what I was wondering about while hiki...

Re: Ole Creek - new trail

Fascinating indeed! Thanks Orin and Steve - you have sent me down the wormhole  I do remember the trail along Waterton River around the Stoney intersection where the cabin is, supposedly going somewhere west. I also found myself looking backwards going from Dawson to Pitamakan this year, wond...

And probably 25 or 30% of the trail inventory has been abandoned.
Interesting. Any recommendations on where to learn more about historic trails? I have seen some references from the trail status pages about trails NW from Kintla and N from Belly River, but nothing too exciting.

Re: Backcountry Web Pages Down Since Aug 14th

Well, a month later, and after the season has ended, they have acknowledged the issue and are giving daily updates on Facebook.

Re: 2021 Transportation

Confirming Glacier Park Lodge (Pursuit) is running the east side shuttle, they said the website was wrong (had no idea).

Re: Backcountry Web Pages Down Since Aug 14th

I asked today and they said it was a server / licensing issue. I didn’t pry further.

While I was picking up my permit, a “hard side only” many glacier came across the radio due to bears getting into human food.

Re: Rental Car Prices at FCA

Word of warning - if arriving on the afternoon flights and renting with Alamo/National, expect an hour to two delay in receiving your car as they’re short staffed and cleaning the cars received from the outbound flight for what you arrived on. Evening pickup was no issue. Thankfully I didn’t need to...

Re: Backcountry Web Pages Down Since Aug 14th

I left a message to the BC office to see what the status is, as I'm starting travel Saturday. Not knowing if sites/trails are closed in advance and not being able to plan alternatives in advance is frustrating. August 25th (yesterday) the trail status page updated to acknowledge the issue: "Currentl...

Re: Corridor Management Plan

So for shits and giggles I took a look at ticketed entry for the t-48 batch release at 8 AM. All 400 went in less than a minute.

Re: Backcountry Web Pages Down Since Aug 14th

Still ongoing and it’s not just backcountry availability, it’s closures, trail status, campground status, etc. Complete blackout of what is going on.
