Re: Well, received some news this evening I have been dreadi

Dave, I am so sorry for your loss. There is nothing that can be said to lessen the pain. You are in my prayers. I met your dad at the gathering you had in July of 2008. He kept us entertained with his hunting and safari stories. He made the gathering even more special.

Re: Many Glacier

It looks like the NPS has made its decision on using the reservation system for the MG campground. The park service posted this in a news release about Changes to Glacier National Park Fees. "Beginning in May 2016, the federal reservation system will also be used for approximately half of the c...

Re: Many Glacier

The language the Park was using in its proposal to make half of Many Glacier sites reservable did indeed make it seem as though the Park had made up its mind. I have not found any follow-up in respect to a decision, though the sites are not reservable (as you noted) this year. I just returned from ...

Re: Reynolds creek fire

I first want to thank you all for doing such a great job of keeping us informed. We will be coming to Glacier for two weeks just 2 weeks from today. Our first night was to be in one of the cabins at the St Mary KOA. I understand it is still under evacuation orders. I know this trip is not going to b...

I love that direct ATL to FCA flight. Been taking it for our annual visit for a few years now. Only 27 days to go.

Moose Calf video

This was such a treat to watch. This moose was having so much fun splashing and playing in this little pond near Iceberg Lake.

Re: Three days of rain

Our two week 2014 trip to Glacier ended on the 23rd. We had been staying in our tent in the Many Glacier Campground, but those last couple of days were more than we or the tent could take. Each night the leaks seemed to multiply. On the 22nd I called Xantera and was able to get a room at the Many Gl...

Re: HIKE 734 made a hiking trail map!

I ordered my map a few months ago from the Hike734 website. Jake has a few hikes on there that I had not previously given any thought to. I am looking forward to using the new map during our upcoming trip Glacier in a couple of weeks. Gonna have two full weeks to hike my favorites as well as try out...

Got a new pair of hiking boots at REI today. The place was a mad house, but the sale was worth enduring the chaos.

Re: "Some stupid with a flare gun..."

I believe that the National Park Service does a great job it trying to educate visitors on bear safety. Signs are posted at nearly all trail heads, pamphlets given to visitors at the entrance stations, and even food safety recommendations stapled to the picnic tables in the camp grounds. Unfortunate...

Re: 7/19 - 7/28, 2013..."The Mountains Are Calling & I Must

The infamous "magic shower" that ran forever without a token which I have used since 2009 was no longer magic!!!
Oh no!!!! Last year there were two magic showers. Well it was nice while it lasted. Gonna have to put showers in the budget for this year's trip!!

Re: Possible reservation system at Many Glacier campground .

I sure hope they don't do this. I have camped at the St Mary campground on a few occasions. Due to the entrance and reservation process, getting in and out of the campground during the evening hours is very difficult. Traffic becomes very congested due to the time required to get new campers registe...
