Re: 2019 "Snaps" Around Gracier National Park...plus

Very cool clouds in that 2nd Lk McD image; nicely captured Pete! Also enjoyed your discussion and pics of Sprague Creek Sites. I’ve wondered about a stay there vs at Avalanche, where the sites seem less concentrated. I know that folks favor Sprague, but driving through, the sites seem abit tight tog...

Pete! SO Happy to see you reunited with Bonnie and Clyde!! You can't believe how the B&C updates over the years have brought smiles to those far away, amazed at the interaction between you and the corvids. It's just a remarkable friendship! 8) Wonderful to hear about your family reunion in Georg...

Re: YANT - Yet Another Northern Traverse

Really enjoyed your trip report Paul! Thank you for all the detail, pictures and anecdotes, it was great! Of course I was extra sympathetic about the foot problems and so glad you managed to improve. Your day at Margaret was a favorite to read about, such beautiful water. I will hope that you reach ...

Re: odor proof bags (loksack opsaks)

We’ve used opsaks for about 10 years. Take them on every backpacking trip. The reason is primarily to keep rodents away from our smellables. Originally we had a problem at Grand Canyon when camping away from the main corridor where there are no food storage containers. Storing our food in Ratsacks (...

MattB and Teapot, Really enjoying your trip report and pictures! Great to see the Chatters tackling the Northern Traverse!! Your day at Margaret looked MARVELOUS and I envy that you braved the cold waters to have such a spectacular vantage from the peninsula. The side details of Captn Morgan...

Re: Badgerhiker's 2018 Trip Report

Badger, Your pics are gorgeous! Alittle late to the party here but i thought some of your cloudy skies were beautiful, like at Theo Roosevelt & Garden Wall sunsets. I've experienced clouds spilling over the Garden Wall like that while at Granite Park & was mesmerized by the movement. You do ...

Re: 2018 "Snaps" Around Glacier National Park

Hey Pete, Sorry you didn’t get back to Ahern Pass and on up to Iceburg Notch this year. Also really Neat footage from your attempt at Grinnell! I found myself holding my breath for you on that skinny trail. (Similar to watching your video of Reynolds  ) Sounds like you made a good call with r...

Re: Beartooth Bear Attack

Thanks for posting this story Jay. As you know, Mike and I went in for a backpack in the Beartooths some years back and started at Island Lake. Our trek wasn’t far from Clay Butte Lookout. Glad we had taken the precautions of bear canisters, bear spray and PLB’s. We found that not all of the lakes t...

Re: A bartender's guide to Glacier

Jay, Really enjoying your trip report! So much character in your photos (and Julie’s). I’ve already rifled back thru those a couple of times because I like the textures and composition. Julie’s sky from your drive out was incredible. Your trees are, as ever, so interesting. Really digging this year’...

Great L'il Map there Pete! Looks spot on from what i can tell. We'll always have you to thank for taking us up there the first time...i don't remember who had passed along the instructions to you but it was fun finding our way up that day. Re: Do I have any "last minute" options modifying permit?

Congrats Gent! You’re headed into some gorgeous territory this summer. We took some extra time to enjoy this area last summer so I wholeheartedly concur with Pete’s suggestions. MOL is a beautiful camp and a night there makes for enough time to go up to Margaret with it’s unreal turquoise waters. Ag...

Awww Pete! Thanks for taking me back to that day....it was a beauty! We sure enjoyed that time up at Granite hangin’ with The Geezer. Funny our first experience with those paper thin walls. Many laughs and gorgeous scenery. Highly Recommend...Swiftcurrent Trail, Chalet and Geezer   :a...

Re: Granite Park Reservations

Just wanted to put a plug in for going up Swiftcurrent Trail if the Highline is not open. Brushing off the cobwebs from 2012, we think Highline was closed late July r/t bear frequenting (seem to Recall that it was for protecting a kill) but wouldn’t be surprised if it was b/c of high angle snow drif...

...we had looked into the shuttle situation, say if we began at Chief and came out at Many Glacier... Just to be clear, at this time I am not aware of any shuttle service - on the USA side of the border - between Chief Mountain and anywhere else ...including Many Glacier. Best regards, Scott Yes, t...
