i always get coverage with my verizon blackberry as we come out of the many glacier road just before cattle barons. good coverage from there down to st. Mary.

this is a real bummer. luckily i was able to replace this night with a room at swiftcurrent inn.

i've got cramptons & an ice axe but i'm still not going to attempt that hike unless several others have already done it. i'd go with a larger group but no way my wife & i are going to try it alone as one of the first this year. looks like boring hike up from lake mcdonald.

thanks to both of you for your thoughts. i think i'll keep watching for sperry cancellations. since we've never done the hike i'm afraid i'd be too concerned about finishing in time & miss out on some of the things we would normally want to do.
