Thought I would share some photos with you from my hike yesterday to Ptarmigan Cirque in the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, Kananaskis Country, Alberta. The trailhead is located at Highwood Pass off Highway 40. At only 6 kilometers in length, this hike would be a great stop for stretching your legs...

September can definitely be a crapshoot, but it sounds like it could have been worse weather-wise, and at least you got to see the Park from a different perspective than most folks. I like your idea about having meals at Sperry. You will enjoy that! But Pete's right . . . You'd start with an uphill trudge to Sperry and then be passing through the the best part of the Gunsight Pass Trail without a stop. On another note, I'm glad the park is getting some rain, but on the other hand I hope our backpacker friends are doing okay in these conditions and I'd like to see them get some good hiking and camping weather.
