Re: Request For Comments - Backcountry Campsite Details Info?

I'll take a look at the Route Planner. It is just making a JavaScript "window.open" call.. so like this: window.open("campsiteDetails/ELL.htm"); Assuming that the campsiteDetails directory was on the same level as where the RoutePlanner was located... I notice in the code there i...

Re: Request For Comments - Backcountry Campsite Details Info?

Way back when, I was trying to gather data and information about different camps from people on the Chat Group. Some of it was info and pictures people sent to me, and some of it I poached from Trip Reports.. The stuff I have should be a good starting point, although some of the comments may be out ...

Re: Request For Comments - Backcountry Campsite Details Info?

The Details files I created were just html files. I did them each by hand. It would be a lot better if we used a database for the information and just generated the details files. The RoutePlanner just builds a file name based on the campsite 3 letter name. and it assumes the Details file are in a &...

Re: Request For Comments - Backcountry Campsite Details Info?

In the Route Planner I started creating "Details" files for the campsites. I didn't do very many, but I think Brown Pass, Boulder Pass, HOL, and Stoney Indian have Details files. Maybe we could create one set of details files and have both the RoutePlanner and the Backcountry Site availabi...

Re: Backpacking camp chair?

I have a hard time sitting on the ground and getting up, and logs and rocks are never the right shape or height, so I like having a camp chair. I first got an Alite Mayfly, but it was a little too low to the ground for me, so I got a NEMO Moonlite chair, its more comfortable for me, but it is heavie...

Re: BackCountry Permits 2022

If they;re going to automate things with the Booz-Allen recreation.gov web-site, they should be able to add a feature that would give a priority to people who did NOT recieve a permit the prior year, kind of like how some places do hunting permits. And people who have failed to get a permit 2 years ...

Re: Moving To Florida Spring 2022

Wow! What a surprise, Pete! But I also understand, Glacier is not the same anymore. Crowds, maintenance issues, costs of lodging, traffic. I had hoped that Glacier's surge in traffic was just do to the news stories about Glacier's disappearing glaciers, and people flocking to the park "before t...

Re: Ole Creek - new trail

I think some new trails or restoring some abandoned trails would be a great idea and could reduce the congestion on the trails and at trailheads. But I think its pretty doubtful there will ever be any new trails or restored old trails. One big problem is just the NPS budget and how it keeps getting ...

Re: Ticketed Entry Issue

Does it require a ticketed entry to get to the Apgar transit Center?
If I just want to park at Apgar and ride the Shuttle Bus, is that possible without a ticketed Entry?
