When I was there, the one pit toilet you mention and the porta potties by the ranger station were open. They also closed off about half the campground. I just saw that

West Entrance to Logan Pass: Closes 10/01/22
East Entrance to Logan Pass: Closes 10/16/22, weather permitting.

Direct quote. Enjoy, we're heading east.

I can see where the high winds and cool weather would make hiking tougher. However on the bright side, there would be a lot less people on the trails. Now temperatures in the 70s in October would be awesome.

Thanks, guys! The 12 day forecast looks good through this coming Wednesday, and then it goes all to hell. I’ll have to keep an eye on things but if the weather improves, I’d love to head down there for one last time this season.

The forecast definitely has improved. It was showing rain starting on Thursday. We are having a late larch season this year, so I’m making plans to dayhike near Lake Louise or Moraine Lake sometime this coming week since it’s prime season there for fall colors. So realistically, I’m about two weeks out from a Glacier visit. Will see how it all plays out!

Maybe we should have a pool to predict what day and time it moves. Winner gets a keg of beer from Kathy! :D
