Jay
No, not recently. I've only done it twice since living here.
Once as a day hike in 2004 or 2005, don't remember. And then as a 2 night backpack in 2010.
It's longer than Floral Park at what, 17-18 miles? But much easier terrain I would think.
If I do Floral Park, I'll only need to get to Sperry Chalet which is about 13 miles.
Depending on my route finding, stops to rest, picture taking, gawking, yakking with people I may find on the glacier, etc. .....
It'll probably take me a good 10-12 hours to do those 13 miles.

It's all seat-of-the-pants to me. I don't really research mileage. I hiked it to Sperry Chalet, chasing my hiking partner, but had I added 6 miles down to McDonald, I think it would have felt like Dawson-Pitamakin.

Talking and pictures...not really a lot of time for that on Floral. "Snaps" not pictures if you follow. Gotta keep moving.

That's true about not a lot of time for goofing off. I was being a bit facetious. 8)
I'll take the a6000 and it's small "kit" lens and nothing else.

Why not start with the Floral Traverse? That's the most likely spot for trouble. Why start so late? They're coming up to the steepest parts of the Floral route and it's nearly dark. It seemed un-necessarily dangerous.
My guess is that they did the route backwards because they couldn’t get a parking spot at Logan with their late start.
