Status of Northwest Campsites

Post by sbosecker »

When all the backcountry/trail/area status webpages went dark over a week ago the following backcountry campsites in the northwest part of Glacier were closed:

Adair
Boulder Pass
Grace Lake
Hole in the Wall
Upper Kintla

maybe some others...

Anyway, does anyone know the current status of those campsites?

With the apparent winding down of the Hay Creek Fire restrictions I was wondering if they had been reopened.

Great question. I have a permit up there, too. I posted your question (w/out your name) on the Facebook page for GNP hiking and backpacking, which has a lot of participation from people who are currently in the park. I'll let you know if I get an answer.

Two people on the facebook page responded that those campsites are open again. One of them was at a North Fork meeting on the 19th at which they said they were opening it. [edit: The other responder says she called the NPS, which said yes.]

Sue Z,

Thanks! I thought they were probably open but it is good to have that verified.

Best regards,

Scott

Well, "Facebook Verified" will have to do for now.
