Tequilla Transport

Post by Jay w »

Our normal routine (for a group of 3) is a shot (or two) of Don Julio reposado after a long day. The problem is, the spreadsheet splits up the supplies as:

Person 1 750 ml Don, most of the meals
Person 2 Kitchen, insect repellent, toothpaste, GPS
Person 3 Housing, TP, first aid

We're worried that Person 1 will abscond with the Don. We've tried reassigning the Don to each on the trip, but the remaining two are worried.

Advice?

Jay

Right now we're contemplating 3 x 500ml in Nalgene bottles...but it seems a little excessive to 4 days. And then the TP would have be split up.

In all seriousness, my neighbor has been inviting me to join their backpack trip for a couple years. One guy in the group (I haven't met the group) has been pushing to go to Glacier, but they might hit Wyoming if they don't get the permit. Highly doubtful, I said that you're gonna have to get that reservation in on time and that it's unlikely to get a permit for a large group. I heard indirectly that they got a permit, but I'm not sure it's Glacier. So there's a slim chance that over Labor Day time frame, I may be heading to Glacier for a backpack trip.

Trust no one. Bring a small backup flask for yourself. That way, if someone makes off with the firewater, it's nacho problem (and may the Agave Goddess deal with her harshly).

I agree that three 500ml bottles is excessive, if you only have 750ml of the Don. Why not go with 1500ml of the Don, so each of you can start the trip with a full 500ml bottle? Problem solved?

One person on our Northern Traverse carried a 2 liter platypus of Captain Morgan. I don’t think the amounts you are talking sound excessive.

We go CYOB. Same as underwear, you carry your own. And having a little extra isn’t going to hurt anybody. Don’t they recommend taking an extra day of booze in case you get stuck? Or is that food? I can’t remember
