What's New to Eat?

Post by PeteE »

I found this stuff in Costco the other day.
Tasty Bite Brown Rice and Lentils. Some of the other products look interesting too.
I'm a salt freak so the sodium levels don't bother me, especially backpacking.

I microwaved a bag a few minutes ago. Really pretty good meal with a bit of Lea&Perrins Worchester sauce on it.
You can also boil in the sealed pouch it comes in as well. Might be a bit of a fuel user since it takes 5 minutes of boiling time to heat.
No big deal for a 2-3 day trip.
The main thing is it tastes good[to me] ,it's not heavy to carry, and you can eat it from the pouch it comes in. No cleanup.

I got hooked on Good-To-Go last year.
Because they're based in Maine, all of the backpacker stores in my area carry it.

Their Thai Curry is phenomenal.
And their "2 servings" really is 2 servings
Nothing on the top, but a bucket and a mop
and an illustrated book about birds.
You see alot up there, but don't be scared:
who needs actions when you got words?

Thx Jamie!
"2 servings" claims are a mystery to me since I tried a different brand of a similar product. Packaging looks identical.
Same claim of 2 servings. I think it's to get the nutrient and calorie count down---make it look less caloric.
The "marketing wienies" at it again.
Seeds of Change---Quinoa and Brown Rice. Says "2 servings"---yeah, maybe for one of those 100lb waifs walking an Hollywood runway.
I inhaled the lot in no time. It'll go better in the field with some broccoli and maybe beef jerky added.
Then maybe it'll be one decent serving for me 8)
