Thanks for this. I was fortunate to stay at Izaac Walton Inn for a 3-day Feb weekend of XC skiing several years ago. When winter existed.
I rather liked the slightly funky nature of some of the facilities, mixed in with historical moments. The basement bar had the right ambience, enlivened by some spontaneous folk music from a banjo and guitar duo who dropped by. And the price was right. It was my impression the clientele chose the inn as a place to gather and knew what to expect. And as a stop on the Empire Builder, well, it was the cat's pajamas.

Looks like big changes for the Izaak Walton, including discarding the historic name.

Not sure that this is a positive development:

Here's a photo from years ago. It was from the pub in Izaak Walton inn. I found it interesting since I'm from that area in Pennsylvania and my grand uncles were steam locomotive engineers on this line.

I was there with my friend Wendy before our trip to Glacier Park in 2018. It's a place I always wanted to go to as a Montana native. I had driven by many times between Havre/Great Falls and Whitefish. Anyway, I am glad I took as many pictures and some video as I did. We loved the ambiance, the food and rooms; would have loved to had the opportunity to go back. From July 2018:

Tibber, Thanks for a wonderful documentary.
I wish I had bought some merch from the gift shop as memorabilia, years ago.
It was a special place.

And Lyman, thanks for keeping us updated, however sorry the news.
