You better make your reservations sooner rather than later.

That's true and good advice!
Then there people like me who often don't do a lot of planning.
After my divorce, I made a trip to Scotland for 3 weeks. made plane reservations maybe two weeks before leaving.
And I didn't make any reservations in advance for anything except a rental car---which I wrecked(totaled it too) day 2.
Couldn't get another automatic xmission car.
That's when I learned how to drive a stick from the right hand seat and on the left side of the road.
Sometimes it's more of an adventure when you don't plan.
