Unknown location

I'm wondering about this photo. Is it Glacier?

I don't know where I got the photo, but the only locations I've been to that resemble this are Pitamakin Pass looking north towards Cut Bank or maybe Siyeh Pass looking NE towards...I guess it would be Babb. I think of that as an un-named drainage, but it probably has a name.

Yeah, that's looking basically NE down Boulder Creek valley/drainage taken from near Siyeh Pass.
After looking at your pic and mine for a while, the pic you posted looks like it was taken somewhere on Matahpi above the trail but same general line of sight.
ya think?

Siyeh Pass is maybe my all time favorite dayhike. That view is partly why 8)
On a good clear day, it's breathtaking.

There's a natural "rock bench" right at the high point of the hike at ~8000ft.
The trail gets a bit narrow there. Drops off steeply towards that view.
You can sit and eat lunch/snack--and enjoy looking down that drainage.
Convenient since it's also about half way through the hike. Just past that point the trail drops down to that big cairn.
Several times on September hikes, I have seen and heard elk down by the lakes.

I have lots of snapshots of that drainage-- a couple are actually pretty good. 8)

June 20th 2015 before the Reynolds fire smoked everything up.
There wasn't any wind at all when I took these two pics. Clouds just hung where they were with shadows underneath.
Scary coming down the Baring Creek side that trip. That first snowfield was very steep with a poor run out---a little tense for the geezer.

Geeze Pete, you come up with the exact same picture out of your collection. I know that bench and seem to remember sitting in front of it to get out of the wind.

Thanks. My memory isn't so good after the alien abduction.

My brother's a guitar player. One night, the band finished a tune and someone in the audience clapped. My brother said, "Thanks for the clap."

So, thanks for the clap. :D

I loved Steven Wright. Saw him 3 times in concert, once was with my ex and her mother! 8)

Yeah, this year I plan on getting some different looks for pictures in that area.
Head out across the pass towards Siyeh and see how far I can get going to the NE towards Wynn MT.
I've seen people going over that way before, but dunno where they were going.
I also want to try getting over to that peak "8486"(or as far as I can go) which is on the other side of Boulder Creek drainage for a different look back towards Siyeh.
I love that whole area and thinking of spending as much time as possible hiking there this year to make some snapshots.

You guys coming out this year?

pete

I think the prominent peak center frame is "8486". I think I can do that one.
Start up over by the snow field on the far right and follow the ridge line.

We're hoping to. At least I am. :) I know what you mean, Pete. I need to find a new way of looking at things as far as photo taking is concerned.
