The Glacier Institute is hiring temporary Teacher/Naturalist positions for the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center. Positions are open from September 1 to October 17, 2008 and are live-in. $800 plus room and board.

Big Creek is located on the North Fork Road in the Flathead National Forest, 22 miles north of Columbia Falls, MT.

Responsibilities:
•Teach outdoor education subjects to small groups of K-12th grade students in varying weather conditions and environments with Discovery School, summer youth camps and custom programs
•Develop subject area knowledge on all classes and programs offered at Big Creek.
•Work in all areas of operations: teaching, bunkhouse duties, light facility maintenance, curriculum development and program logistics.
•Supervise students in all areas of programs: classes, meals and evening programs.
•Assist with kitchen operations, including meal preparation and service.
•Ensure safety and well-being of students at all times.
•Operate 15 passenger van for field trips.
•Report to and assist the Program Director in managing and facilitating daily programs, lesson planning, teaching, training and curriculum development.
•Professionally represent The Glacier Institute in its mission and goals.
•Share your interest, enthusiasm and dedication to outdoor education with both youth and adults.
•Assist in managing an outdoor education facility in a remote area and work with a small-sized staff.
•Perform a variety of jobs within an irregular schedule including facility maintenance.
•Live on site and work in the field.
