Swiftcurrent Restaurant 2015

Post by PeteE »

Here's a few pics of this year's menu at Swiftcurrent.
The breakfast pictured was actually good!
Yes, it's pricey, but what do people expect?
It's unrealistic to believe food will be cheap when GNP's season is so short , etc.
The bison burger I had was "ok" but nothing to write home about.
The good news is that they will cook a bison burger how one wants it, i.e. medium rare.
"Beef" burgers gotta be well done :(
The service is, as usual, slow.
Feel free to chime in here on your experience.

PS
The Swiftcurrent Store now opens at 7AM :x

The cook actually knows how to properly scramble eggs!

Dinner menu. I hope it's legible. Ask about prices, etc. if not

My $5.00+ "Garden Salad". Not bad, just not much of it.

My $10.00+ 7" pizza 8)

Am I the only person eating at Swiftcurrent (or anywhere else) this season?
No one else has an opinion about eateries?

Pete,

This looks like something I would enjoy before and after hiking. I don't think I have ever eaten at Swiftcurrent (yet) but I want to say that I appreciate your reviews very much and please keep them coming. Some people are listening (well, at least one person is!)

We ate at Swiftcurrent with Pete a few years ago when we did Shangri Lai with him & Hockey Ref - I thought the pizza was great I don't remember the price but after a long day of hiking I just wanted food & beer!

I do remember that day! :D

I posed the question about the food at Swiftcurrent partly because of all the hoopla raised about Xanterra getting the contract, etc.
Seems to me the transition, while not without hiccups, has gone pretty well.
The sky didn't fall, and the world as we know it, didn't come to an end.

I was just curious if anyone else has an opinion on the menu and service now that a new concessionaire is running the place.

We had breakfast at the Swftcurrent Restaurant last week. I had the same meal as you except my eggs were over easy. My son had the French Toast. Service was fast, and my breakfast was excellent. My son loved the French toast and bacon-- so thumbs up from us!

I think the food at Swifty has taken a relatively big step up under the new company. There are still some things on the menu that aren't great but the rocket salad is delicious and the pizza isn't bad. Breakfast is actually good. Service is pretty good. Today was insane because it rained in the morning so th restaurant got super crowded.

I did 3 dinners there this past trip. The Pizza was good, not a fan of the crust though. And then the burgers I had the other two times were good. Service was pretty good and the food came fairly quick. To be honest after a long day in the mountains I think any hot food is good and don't really expect any meal to taste bad, LOL!
