Canyonlands National Park

Post by elscout198 »

Another very big park near Moab Utah (South east Utah) The giant park is divided into districts by the Green and Colorado rivers: the Island in the Sky, the Maze, and the Needles. Islands in the sky is close (30 miles) to Moab so we hit it. Took most of the day to drive, hike drive some more to see a wonderful place.

The Island in the Sky mesa rests on sandstone cliffs over 1,000 feet above the surrounding area. Every overlook offers a different perspective on the spectacular landscape. The Island in the sky is the easiest district to visit in a short period of time, offering many pullouts with spectacular views along the paved scenic drive. Hiking trails and four-wheel-drive roads access backcountry areas for day or overnight trips. We stayed in neaby Moab.
