RMNP 2015

Post by elscout198 »

Spent 10 weeks as a park host for the 100 year celebration of Rocky in my trailer at RMNP.

Some observations Glacier Basin Campground, even without a lot of shade is an excellent point to hike out the east side and close enough that Longs Peak is nearby for folks to make that journey and hike.

Living in a campground for two nights (when most of the campground was closed to get ready for the rededication) was so quiet and a clear night sky made the milky way seem right there.

No black bears in Glacier basin this year they all were at lower altitudes because of the wet spring.

The Elk were out early and often due to the wet spring

I signed up to go back next year, sorry glacier :(

Some posts with pictures follow but my view many mornings was this

Glad you had a good time! Did you get to do lots of hiking too? (Pics! Pics!) Or did your campground responsibilities limit that a lot?

My official duties were three days on and three days off. So we did have time to hike and even hiked on the west side of the park

This years favorites included:

Wow, Terry! Looks like you had a fantastic season as CG host!

I think Glacier Basin is where my family and I camped in 2012??? I just remember that we got a recommendation from some ROMO addicts on which campsite to choose. I booked it in advance and when we arrived I remember being initially disappointed at the site. I thought "Why would they tell me this was a superb site????"

And then this happened .....

It was a highlight for us. :)

Glad to hear you will be going back for a 2nd year.
