that's awesome. Thanks for sharing. I just ordered mine in hopes I'll be able to pull off my backpack trip from Kintla to Goat Haunt. Don't know that I would need a pass but nonetheless.

Happy 150th!

Thanks, Jen.
Downloaded 2X among my sibship.

Hoping to do the Alpine Circuit at Lake O'Hara in August. Some pics here:

If you only go once (YOGO) to Canadian Rockies, this traverse would be high on the list.

Jen, you and Joybird will prompt a nice boost in Canada's economy this summer!

Akamina WOW! Found this description with pictures - terrific look back at high points of Glacier NP in Montana -- Kintla Peak, Kinnerly Peak, Agassiz Glacier, Upper Kintla Lake:
http://enjoyyourparks.com/akamina-ridge-waterton.html

For those planning to go a bit further north, to Field, in Yoho National Park (Canada), and who have an interest in Steven Jay Gould and geology, the hike to the Walcott Quarry (Burgess Shale open quarry) is run by the Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation on weekends, and the guides are actual geologists. You can walk around inside the quarry and look at specimens, about which Gould wrote Wonderful Life. The hike to the quarry is quite beautiful in itself. It's about an hour from Banff and sort of across the road from Lake O'Hara.

Lake O'Hara is one of my all time favorite hikes. Just a beautiful place.
Better make reservations for the buses as soon as they become available. They sell out fast.
Here is a video I made from 2015

Ahhh! My dear Ms Selkie. Queen of the eye-popping, drool-worthy linkies! 8)

When are you going to quit your pesky day job so that you can become a travel agent?

I am seriously considering bailing on my backcountry permit after looking at the Akamina pics!

@Jen: Six miles on that ridge would require seriously good weather (for me, slightly overcast, so I am not mummified).

But it is a yummy option, and thanks again to Joybird for turning on the light!

Thanks also to southernguy for the Lake O'Hara video!

In case this thread turns into the unofficial Akamina planning thread, I picked this up from a 2016 post by akamina3 (thanks!)

Akamina Shuttle:
http://www.akaminahikershuttle.com/index.html

Currently the page simply says "Shuttle ops will resume in Summer 2017," but something to bookmark for future reference.

Dang it, Selkie! You are screwing with all my plans! A shuttle makes Akamina actually doable!
