Pete,

I didn't notice your note at the end of your last post until now. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone.
Bobby was a good guy. I'll miss him for sure.
We used to talk a lot on the phone about everything!
Lately, we had talked about how sad it is that today's American society and culture is going down the toilet.
And that as "the hated early boomers" we grew up during America's best days.
Younger Americans today have absolutely NO clue how much of our "freedom" has been taken away.
Young people say I'm full of sh1t, but they didn't grow up in the 50s and 60s.
They have no clue what the country was like then.
Sad, so I won't say anymore on that topic.

As for Glacier National Park...
If the limited access policy continues next year, which I expect it will continue in some form....
Then I won't be going there too often. Same for the rest of this year.
The "ticket policy" is working in keeping me from going as often as I might like.
And then there is the rising cost of gasoline. That is not helping either--cost me about $.25/mile to drive.
There are 3-4 people/families I agreed to help and or hike with this year.
If it weren't for them I would likely stay away until September.
There are other nice place to go around here.

Thanks Missy and Jason!

Funeral isn't until the 22nd. One of Vickie's kids and family couldn't make it until then.
It wouldn't be grim if it were held today--and won't be on the 22nd.
It'll be more of a "celebration of life" and not so much mourning a death.
These events are no fun but we all have to face them at some point.
Thanks all. I appreciate your being here.

I went out again this morning. Up at 0300, left home at 0400.
My arrival time at Logan Pass was exactly the same as Thursday's time-----0533.
Not as many cars there as Thursday in spite of it being a Saturday and a gorgeous day.
The lot was pretty much full by 0630.

I believe I got some good photos with my A77m2. I used an old phone for all the video.
There is a LOT of video and it'll take some time to edit and upload. Time to the False Summit of the Dragon's Tail took 4 hours!!
I was stopping all the time for video and pictures, chatting with a few people, and frankly...
I'm just out of good condition and SLOW!

Conditions were great in the morning. By the time I got down to the Visitors Center...
The entire West side and I believe East side too were filled with smoke from a fire in Idaho

Here's 3 phone pics
Two Billies walked right by me as I was putting my MicroSpikes on.
Never heard them or saw them until they were right beside me.
I couldn't get the phone out quickly and then couldn't see the display!! LOL
Image

I was sitting in a pretty precarious spot at the False Summit. The sharp rocks were jabbing me in the back and my ass. 😜
The Little Matterhorn in the distance. 1800 ft to Hidden Lake below 8)👍👍

The color and clarity of Hidden Lake were just spectacular. No other word for it.
That may show up better with the images from my A77m2. Bear Hat Mt.

back tomorrow with video and more pics.

I like that b/w of the goats. Sometimes the best shots are off the the cuff.

Pete, glad you got out. Sounds like a nice hike and Dragon's Tail never disappoints.

Today, Logan's was also busy:

And the smoke from the wildfires make for a nice sunrise.

Direct from the webcams. No photoshopping.

Hey Thanks Jay! :)
It was pretty nice here too until yesterday when it went bad very quickly.
I took all this video with an old phone I had for videos.
The calendar and clock are way off.
This video was taken around 0930 Saturday morning.
4-5 hours later the smoke had engulfed the park.
The atmosphere went from beautiful to crap in a hurry. I was startled.

The videos are almost finished uploading.
I'll post the links in an hour or so.
I may have gotten some good images with my A77. Working on them now.

Here is the video from Saturday July 10th.
No news here for those who have done the False Summit of the Dragon's Tail. 8)
However these video might be helpful wondering if it's too risky, or beyond their ability.
Have fun but take care out there.

Thx Pete. Enjoyed the images of Hidden and I, too, liked the B&W of the goats.
