Ride the boat to Waterton...Hitchhike back to Chief Mountain? That allowed in CA?

I am hoping to score a permit in that vicinity this summer. 8)

Is your photo NorthForkesque?

Nice shot! I wish I knew where that was because it would mean I've been there. I'm going to guess it's from the trail along Lake Kintla?

No, sorry Jason. In the right general neighborhood, but not taken on the trail to KIN and UPK. (Boulder Creek Pass trail)

PS, Pete commented on Todd's photo, and my comment Pete's post is, "Pete, you're still chasing tail, eh?"

Don't know Pete's north fork photo; never been there.

Jay's I believe is Lower Sperry Glacier and sometimes chalet.

Since nobody has gotten this one right yet, I thought I would re-post my photo "uncropped" and see if that helps.
I like the uncropped picture better anyway.
It was taken May 6th, 2012 if that helps.

Pete, I ain't never been, but I'll guess Kishenehn Creek Trail, just because you said it was in the area.

And yup Todd. What a shot of the Chalet eh? (I didn't take it.) It might look similar about now.

Kishenehn Creek Trail is correct!
But Jay, since you "guessed", you only get a Silver Star, and not a Gold Star.

Yeah, the mountain is Long Knife Mt. as seen from near the TH where it terminates on the Inside Road--about 2 miles from Kintla Lake.
Todd may have been put off by the "lake" in the foreground of the picture since that lake dries up considerably before September when Todd did the hike.

Your turn there JayW :)

For the regulars here, you need to name:

-The trail(s) in the photo
-Where the photo was taken
-If I used hiking poles to get there :D

If you're newer, name a trail.

Yup, and I really needed some hiking poles to get to the notch. It was a PITA without them. (Very time consuming.)

I can't imagine climbing down the notch. No way.

Nice picture Jay!

If I can get 2 nights at the chalet and the weather permits, that's where I want to go--Iceberg Notch.
I don't have the stamina to do it as a dayhike from--well, anywhere except Granite Park Chalet 8)
A guy in the party I was with hiked up to the notch from the Helen Lake overlook.
Said it wasn't too bad. Goat trail(s) in the scree help.

Pretty amazing photo Jay...

I did the Kishenehn loop; it really is a scenic, peaceful and not too strenuous 17 miles with the added benefit of hanging at the Ranger's cabin towards the end.

The only downside is 4 creek crossings along the way.

I don't remember that view however....
