In hindsight, guessing the years could take a while.

Jen correctly identified the 2003 fire year Photo #4. Feel free to keep guessing on the years,
but to keep things rolling, please identify the forlorn bench

Not bad considering the sarcasm that went into my guesses ;)

Photo #4 is 2003. The fire should give it away. The park service actually posted that photo online
after the fire, at which point we realized we had taken pictures at nearly the same identical location
and decide we would continue that tradition.

Hopefully that provides enough of a hint, if not to the exact year, then at least to the chronological order.
For example, look for burnt trees in the background.

As for the Rising Sun guess on the bench photo -- that is not the correct answer. If you have been to
that bench you'll be able to "Name that Trail".

About the picture with the bench. Is it near St. Mary Lake where there is a picnic area that is under construction. It used to be where all vehicles had to park that were too large for the Sun Rd.? Just a wild guess.

Um ... err ... no. Close.
Not a wild guess, but I'll have to insist on the "Name that Trail" rules.

I can also state that within GNP, never underestimate how spectacular even the lesser traveled trails can be.

The bench is near the trailhead for the Red Eagle Trail. It is also where you park to go to the old ranger station.

joybird is a winner!!!!

Though technically the bench is on the Beaver Pond Trail near the original St. Mary Ranger station,
this trail does continue on to Red Eagle Lake. It was a stunning cold and windy winter day when the photo
was taken, with typical east side snow that was marginally ski-able. I had wished we had driven two cars
that day as we saw not another soul around, but the winter solitude is part of the charm

Where am I?

Bonus points if you refer to the spot by it's proper culinary name...

Looks like it is from the summit of Piegan looking at Siyeh pass and Preston park?

Yes, It was pie day. Someone mentioned it to me and I immediately thought of huckleberry pie......however, they meant Pi (3.14 etc) instead of pie. Kind of a let down. :?
