Hi Doug and Tina
I just got back.
A fun day with the GMS group--10 of us.
We began about 0945 and finished at 1600. These GMS folks don't mess around.
No way I was gonna be able to keep up with the 5 "hard core" guys, so I hiked up and back with the slower folks
And they weren't slackers!
The hike ended up at 10.8 miles and +- about 2200ft.

The first couple miles were up a draw to the foot of Clayton Lake--and we "marched" pretty much straight up to that point non stop.
At Clayton Lake trail junction we took the Pioneer ridge "trail". Lots of down trees and more of a bushwhack in many places.
I'm glad I wore my rain pants. The brush was head high in spots. It wasn't too wet but still not a lot of fun.
The trail opened up some around the lake. Nice views of the surrounding area.
Once on Pioneer ridge proper, the views opened up nicely all around.
Here's a couple pics. I'll have more and some video later. Gotta clean up and eat.
later

EDIT ADD:
I'm beat
Got lazy after cleaning up and eating
I got the pics resized and uploaded. I'll post them in the AM.
Clayton Lake from the head. I took this pic from a beautiful campsite right on the lake.
