It's kind of a gray area...

Glacier presents some great photographic opportunities, talk about it here.

It's kind of a gray area...

Post by paul46038 »

So I had this shot of Wild Goose Island that seemed like it had potential, but it just kind of lay there looking meh as I poked and prodded with my usual editing procedures. Then I tried black & white - which, frankly, seldom occurs to me - and it turns out that's what it wanted. So then I went all Ansel Adams and went through a bunch of other shots trying the monochrome thing and only found one other that I liked - and I'd already shared that one in color.

Anyone else have some wonderful b&w shots? Here are my two.

I still don't have it "right" but I keep trying to make the perfect B&W image out of this one.

Incredible! I always considered black and white photos special, but these photos are just breathtaking!

Bike ride to the Loop. This looked best in black and white.
Sorry for the link- but too much work to take it into photobucket.

Beautiful, Jay!

Lemme guess...is that one on the Scenic Point trail? (I think I have a picture of it too...though not nearly as nice a one.)

Pretty!
I'm seeing a website in your future Jay...'deadtree.com'. A place for dead tree pics to mix and mingle and be awesome. I can think of a few Chatters here who shoot this subject well in your honor. I make an effort with every Glacier trip but most don't merit posting.

Thanks for sharing!

Joy, yup, on the way to scenic point. The trail has some nice ones up there.

Tam, it looks like deadtree.com is taken, but for sale. deadbeat.com doesn't give me a result, so I don't know, but departedtree.com is open. :D
