I'm new to the board, but Hockey Ref was very generous to me and my questions. Happy to help. let me know how to contribute.

Btw - I don't suppose Hockey Ref was a Red Wings fan...

At this point the easiest way to donate is to do so directly through the GNP Conservancy.

To donate a tree, here's the link:

http://glacierconservancy.org/product/t ... membrance/

To make an alternate donation amount in Andy's name, you can do that here:

http://glacierconservancy.org/product/general-donation/

In either case, please PM me with your name, address and the amount of the your donation as we are communicating the names and addresses to his family and we are maintaining a spreadsheet with Paul Travis of the Conservancy to make sure every donator receives the appropriate share of the charitable donation.

Thanks so much for your generosity. The response of the chatters has been nothing short of amazing!

UPDATE:

Just thought I would let everyone know that as of earlier this week, there are 54 trees and 2 animals in Andy's name! It won't be called Andy's grove but Andy's forest! This chat page has to be the best there is out there. Andy's family has been so overwhelmed with everyone's generosity. It is a small comfort when losing someone but knowing that something will live on for future generations in his name will be treasured. Wendy said that Andy would be so thrilled!

The years of Earth life he enjoyed numbered 60. Perhaps, over time, the 54 might be joined by a few more.

I received a thank-you note and receipt from the conservancy yesterday. Thanks again to the folks who organized this really wonderful tribute.

:D Andy's forest indeed!!! I'll echo the "Thanks!" of so many, Tim and Laura, for heading up and coordinating all this! Whenever this forest is planted, will definitely try to be there! Many thanks!

I received a very gracious note from the family (as, I am sure, did others), as well as a thank you note from the Conservancy.

A quick check of the GP Conservancy site for gifts showed that trees now carry a higher value of $100, and it takes 15 to make a grove (rather than 10).

Yes Selkie, that very personal note both surprised and touched me!

We will be doing the Hockeyreff hike for the first time this trip while spending a night at Granite Park. I can just imagine how many stones will be placed this year on that hike!

Hey gang.... I ran across a couple pictures from the tree planting (Sept. 8, 2015) for HockeyRef from when liketohike and I were out there. I thought I'd put them up here... I can't believe it's been that long ago already.

Almost the same date of this year, September 7th, we were out there again and we each placed a rock on Andy's rock pile on Swiftcurrent Pass. XenaTheWarriorHiker, Teapot57, myself, and Liketohike behind the camera.

The trees were planted in Many Glacier across the road from the Poia Lake Trailhead. It is hard to believe it was that long ago.

I had never met Hockey Ref, but felt like I knew him from reading his trip reports and other posts on this site. I appreciate his contributions to the chat site and his sharing of knowledge and love of the park with others.
