Yellowstone Petting Zoo

Even though Glacier is the focal point, the Flathead and the surrounding area presents boundless activities, talk about it here.

Yellowstone Petting Zoo

Post by JWB475 »

I do not understand how people can be so stupid.
If you are dumb enough to pet a wild bison, how have you managed to survive this long?

There's been too many years without natural selection...and an abundance of social programs.

Update to the story, they had to euthanize the bison...

Unfortunately the tourists are still at large. Be on the look out for a Toyota Sequoia. It is more than likely stopped in the middle of the road blocking traffic.

It was mentioned that the Toyota was a rental. Maybe the rental car company will get wind of their actions and charge them for violating the rental agreement. While a bison calf may not be a pet, I'm pretty sure they would have grounds to apply a cleaning fee. :x
No, the fine won't be enough...and never will be imo.
Regarding foreign visitors, the State Department, among others, will object to big fines because it may discourage international tourism.
And then there are all the "apologists" who make up all sorts of scenarios to excuse such behavior--and object to punishment of same.
And so we'll keep on seeing stories like this...forever.
e.g.
I've been reading/seeing stories of people "rescuing" deer fawns in June all of my life.
Happens all over the country every year.

This is sickening. I can only hope the poor calf did not die for nothing.

Man, this is becoming a daily occurrence... My Google News feed keeps alerting me to these stories (since I keep opening them).
I think the water is around 160 degrees, somehow they avoided the soothing 3rd degree burns...

Nice try. Apology appreciated, as well as the pledge, but likely not accepted.

I actually took pleasure in reading some of the comments. That really backfired on them.

Unfortunately I also read some of the comments on Yellowstone's post in regard to the bison calf incident. There are a lot of misinformed people that think Yellowstone is a zoo and that the calf should have been cared for. It is unfortunate it had to be killed, but you can't have it approaching people and wandering in traffic. I wouldn't want to be in Park management; any decision is going to be criticized.
Regarding this incident and the critics who whined about the calf being put down...

Those who know not, and know not that they know not, they are fools; shun them.

The comments on their FB page are spot on. I only wish someone would take action against all of these misinformed people. If 1 person a day does this kind of thing, the parks will be ruined in a season. Selfish.

Maybe someone will. It is a lot easier for law enforcement when the perpetrators proclaim their misdeeds far and wide using social media.
