rising sun campground questions.....

Post by mooselips22 »

Hi Everyone and anyone,
i've been to Glacier maybe 6 times. First time, about 20 years ago, stayed at st. mary koa. other places, rising sun and apgar. would like to get into rising sun campground. i've noticed fill times are fairly early, so i'm wondering if anyone has dealt with that? I think ranger's to check you in get there at 7. Would i wanna be there at 7 to talk to him or her? Any answers would be awesome. Thank you. Family trip next year, everyone is staying at rising sun cabins, but i prefer the tent. This trip is first week in August so i know the park will be busy. Again, thanks.
Jen

I think getting there at 7am in August would be a good plan. It will fill fast.

Or earlier than 7AM.

Were I you...
First morning possible, all of you plan to eat at Two Dog Flats.
Then let one person go over and begin circling the camp ground looking for someone leaving---and grab the spot.
The Ranger doesn't have to be there for you to secure a camping spot.
ALL the CG's last year were filling early.
It seemed every morning I drove out there, all the CGs along the Sun Road from one end to the other had "FULL" signs posted.
You cannot get there too early imo.
Not these days, given what attendance was last year, and they are predicting another record year this year.
Just sayin'
Ya know? 8)
