Mosquitos

Post by RussC »

I am going to be at Brown Mountain Pass campsite in the middle of August, and possibly Kootenai as well. They both have a reputation for mosquitos. Should we be thinking of bringing headnets and other mosquito gear, or just good repellent? I realize there are a lot of variables involved, but some typical approaches and experience would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Russ

I was at Kootenai on 8/8. We did not encounter an overabundance of mosquitos. Maybe a few/lots? on the trail from Goat Haunt? We used an average amount of DEET. I live in a chain o lakes region of Illinois so it's all relative? I did not leave KOO with an extraordinary sense of bloodshed. :)

I've used a mosquito headnet several times at Glacier in the evenings to prepare and eat food.

It weighs nothings and serves the purpose.
